The funeral

It was one of those very dark days, and like every significant moment in our lives, I felt it deserved to be captured.

I called Dimitris (who’s usually down for anything) and asked if he was up for a personal photoshoot the next morning. I quickly described the vision, and within 30 minutes, we were both outside our home, chopping pallets and preparing for the session.

We set the alarm for 4 a.m., packed the car with canvases and pallet wood, and headed to the petrol station.
Now, imagine the employee’s reaction: two guys in black suits asking for two cans of fuel, with a car full of pallets visible in the background.

Somehow, we managed to get the fuel and made our way to the beach to start a fire.

The 30-mile-per-hour winds bursting across the shoreline didn’t make it easy, but we pulled it off.

Me on art direction and Dimitris behind the camera has always been a winning combo, and this time was no different.

I didn’t know that burning 300€ worth of canvases would feel so good. Destroying the creations of the past felt like I was making space for something new. This remains my only personal session to date.
