Where do you start with something like this. I have never met a man who put this much effort into proposing.
If I did not genuinely like Sahil, and if I did not fully understand how important this trip was for him, I would never have taken five long video calls and exchanged hundreds of WhatsApp messages. But he is different. He is the kind of person I want to work with and keep in my life.
I helped him book his flights to Greece, build the full itinerary, book ferries, accommodation, car rentals, handle Santorini logistics, choose the private dinner location, and advise on decor aesthetics.
Always with one rule: keep it high quality and avoid cringiness at all cost.
The itinerary:
• Proposal at Sarakiniko, Milos
• Second photo session in Mandrakia
• Transfer to Santorini
• Sunset session in Skaros Rock, Santorini
• Candlelight private dinner in Santorini
• Final sunrise photoshoot in Oia, Santorini
This is as complete as a Greece proposal gets.
Since this was a special project for us, I feel it matters to be transparent. Not everyone is willing to spend five figures on a proposal in Santorini. Sahil was. And he knew exactly why.
In detail:
June 1st: Travel to Milos and final preparation
2:00 pm, right at the peak of summer heat, we boarded our private speedboat and headed to Milos.
We cruised with 45 knots against the headwind for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
3:45 pm we arrived at Adamantas port and docked at the visitor’s pier. We stayed close to Sarakiniko, had dinner early, and went to bed at 10:00 pm. Early wake up.
7:00 pm, one last call with Sahil. Two minutes long.
I told him one thing. Try to enjoy it. Leave the rest on me.
He sent me a photo of himself and Purva so I could recognize him the next morning. At Sarakiniko. At 5:00 am. With no one else around. After five video calls together. That tells you everything about his stress level.

One thing Sahil understood early on was the value of proper assistance and lighting. Flash matters, especially when having to deal with the harsh light of the Aegean. So I brought my lifelong friend and Dreamodd’s Swiss knife, Vangelis. When I work with him, nothing slips.

June 2nd: Sunrise proposal at Sarakiniko, Milos
5:00 am. The alarm goes off. I am already awake. I knock on doors. We go over the plan one last time.
Vangelis is on his second coffee.
Batteries charged.
Bags packed.
Clothes clean and ironed.
You see what I mean.
5:45 am we arrive at **Sarakiniko**. Windless. Completely still. I text Sahil. He is already there, sitting inside the car with Purva.
5:50 am we meet. I introduce him to the team. Purva believes this is a simple Milos couple session booked through a well known platform.
5:55 am we warm up with a few frames around the rocks. Slow flash work. Precise. Fewer images. Better images.
6:04 am I give him a nod.
He proposes exactly as the first light breaks the horizon.
The flash fires.
Here is my hero shot.

Enjoy the first part of their proposal in Milos, with images from Sarakiniko.

8:00 am we drive to Mandrakia for our second session of the day. The village was already awake. We kept it simple and fast. Twenty minutes at the marina and another thirty minutes with my “lonely chair” that I found next to the church and used as my prop. Fancy.

June 3rd: Couple session at Skaros Rock and Santorini private dinner
7:00 pm. Quick session in Imerovigli. The village is packed. No time to fight crowds. We head straight to Skaros Rock.
The little chapel becomes our outdoor studio for the next thirty minutes.

7:45 pm we are back in the car, heading to The Edge Restaurant.
Our partners have everything ready. Minimal setup. Modern lines. Best table on the island.
Windless again. Purva loved this part more than I expected.

June 4th: Sunrise photoshoot in Oia, Santorini
5:00 am. I try to wake up Vangelis. He is already up. Everything ready.
5:15 am we are on our GS motorcycles, riding to **Oia**, talking through the intercoms. Betting on which spots will be busy and how we will handle them.
5:45 am we meet Sahil and Purva.
Our last session begins. Well… almost.

Why this worked
Nothing here was random.
Sahil invested a little over 10k into this experience. Five people worked together seamlessly. Four shooters, one assistant, two external partners for the decor, and the team at The Edge Restaurant, who always take care of my couples the right way.
I wanted to surprise Sahil and Purva with a next day viewing of their images at our villa. In the end, rest made more sense.
By the way, we are doing this again. We are shooting their wedding next year in Udaipur, India.
