If you’ve booked your wedding in Santorini and find yourself struggling with posing or feeling uncomfortable in front of the camera, then this guide is tailored just for you.
Your private photoshoot is the moment when your best shots will be captured.
To ensure the best results, it's essential for you to feel comfortable and be open to following our posing directions.
Our ultimate aim is to make you look absolutely radiant in your wedding photos in Santorini.
Here are a few tips on posing for your wedding day:
Lower-upper body split:
In bridal portraits, consider your upper and lower body as separate components. To create an elegant and asymmetrical posture, it's beneficial to face your upper and lower body in different directions.
Showing curves is the key.
This technique enhances femininity and adds depth to your poses.
Angle your body slightly away from the camera:
For most poses, I'll suggest angling your body away from the camera. Avoid having both ears visible simultaneously. This slight angle contributes to a more refined and effortless posture, adding sophistication to your photos.
Relax your wrists and shoulders:
Body tension can reflect in your posture. For graceful and relaxed wedding photos, focus on relaxing joints like your wrists and elbows. Observe Renaissance-era paintings to understand the elegant fluidity in posture that relaxed joints can achieve.
Listening without reacting:
Follow my directions without consciously reacting to my voice.
Let your responses flow naturally, allowing for genuine expressions and gestures that authentically represent the moment. Act as if I’m not there.
Keep your elbows close:
Even when hugging your partner, try to maintain a posture where your elbows are kept close to your body.
Allow your partner to place his/her hands around you and stay idle, allowing for a natural-looking stance.
Close your eyes and let go:
When prompted to close your eyes, take a moment to immerse yourself in the surroundings and enjoy the sun.
Remember, if it feels good, it looks good. This authenticity and relaxation will reflect in the captured images, conveying genuine emotion femininity.
Hands Talk:
Your hands communicate emotions, whether it's a gentle touch or a grasp.
Allow your wrists to gently rest on your body, let your hands reflect your feelings.
Talk with your hands.
The drunk walk:
Pretending to be slightly drunk as you walk together can lead to some awesome candid shots.
Forget my presence and allow yourself to be playful.
Face the Wind
Choosing to have your wedding in Santorini requires adequate preparation to combat the winds! You might have to deal with strong gusts, and your hair is not going to appreciate it.
Facing into the wind helps keep your hair away from your face and also adds a certain dynamic to the pictures.
If it feels good, it looks good.
I know I sound like a broken record but uncomfortable or exaggerated posing are my worst nightmares.
Avoid forcing uncomfortable or exaggerated poses. Listen to my directions and allow yourself to relax into poses that feel natural and comfortable.
Remember 3 things:
Posing is difficult for everyone, even models.
Spend some time in front of the mirror, practicing how to relax your joints.
If it feels good, it looks good.
See you later!
