Ivis & Loren

Ivis Flores Jr and Loren chose Pyrgos and Imerovigli for their couple session in Santorini. This is my favorite combo because it offers the raw texture of a traditional village alongside the iconic caldera views. We had a windless day with the clearest atmosphere ever which made the blue of the Aegean pop even more.

The Session

I aimed for a nice balance between staged poses and effortlessness. The couple was willing to put in the effort to make this happen and that shows in the final gallery. By moving away from the main paths we avoided the visual noise of the crowds and focused on the geometry of the landscape. They were brave enough to walk with me to the church behind Skaros Rock under the hot sun. It was a sweaty hike but again, the pictures were worth it. Seeing them barefoot on the domes with just the ocean and the volcano in the background was pretty cool even for me. This is how we live and this is what it takes to get these frames.

The Timing

If you want deep blue skies in your pictures then the right time to shoot is 3 to 5 hours before sunset. Yes it will be hot and you will probably sweat but you cannot have it all. We focused on simple storytelling and letting the natural light do the work.
